last minute kitty

I could blame my 11th hour Halloween preparations on exigent circumstances (i.e. lack of power…thanks Sandy!) but even under normal conditions and despite my best intentions, I almost always leave costume cultivation to the last minute.

But since rushing to Ricky’s, hoping to find something other than a sexy nun get-up, an XXL gorilla costume or packets of fake blood probably won’t be an option this year, it’s just as well that my kitty cat relies on products that are indispensible and therefore on-hand year-round.

A cat eye is vital to this feline look. Here I used two favorites from this post, namely Bobbi Brown’s Long Wear Gel Eyeliner and Guerlain’s liquid liner.

For additional highlighting (down the nose and top of the cheekbones) I used the classic MAC Strobe Cream. If ever I’m looking the least bit dewy on this site, it’s generally thanks to this product being discriminatingly deployed.

Now for the fun part- the nose and whiskers are care of my favorite pencil eyeliner- Clinique’s Quickliner for Eyes Intense. It has a rich pigment that is perfect as used here but it’s also non-irritating which is helpful for sensitive eyes when it’s deployed more traditionally.

For a final vampish flare, I added a quintessential red lip using NARS’s Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Dragon Girl.

Add some cute cat ears and this kitty is ready for a party…what about you?!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!

  1. You are an adorable last minute kitty! For not having any power, you look divine. I can’t even find my eye liner, let alone draw a straight line on my face without power, so bravo to you chica! Hope you are staying safe and dry. Happy Halloween! xo

    • Pros always say daylight is the best for applying makeup and I can now attest that they are correct!! Thanks for the well wishes. It’s been a crazy few days but you know what they say…when the going gets tough, the tough get stylish!!

  2. As a NOLA native, I know all too well what its like to be without power after a hurricane (that’s a shout out to you, Hurricane Isaac). However, your ingenuity in the wake of Sandy is impressive and stylish! Stay safe and make the best out of your “Hurrication.”

    • Thanks so much! Unfortunately, my ‘Hurrication’ was brief as I was back in the office yesterday but I have no complaints as it has hot water, electricity and wi-fi…what more could a girl want :)
