essentially autumn

dress: Aqua; scarf: vintage Liberty (via my mum); shoes: Rebecca Minkoff; bag: J. Crew; watch: Michael Kors; necklace: Alicia by Oia Jules

Do you have an item that is so quintessentially autumnal, just putting it on makes you feel like Halloween is mere days away with Thanksgiving on its heels? I do. It’s my lovely auburn printed Liberty scarf. In the interests of accuracy, I cannot quite call it my own as it was actually my stylish mum who purchased it in London in the 1970′s at the veritable mecca of prints.

I can’t quite recall how I managed to finagle it from her wardrobe but between you and me, I’m NEVER giving it back…I just love it too much and it’s become an integral part of my style during the cooler months. Today it tops off a navy and black fitted dress that has me not only ready for the first day of October but also the first day back at the office.

Now that I’ve shared my Fall staple, I turn it over to you dear reader- do you have a garment that in your mind is synonymous with Autumn and if so, are you breaking it out already or are you saving it in the hopes of an Indian Summer?!

*To any concerned parties: I did not crash the photo location of the happy couple behind me. They arrived after I did and understandably wanted their moment on style sprite- who was I to deny them?!

  1. They totally photo-bombed you! I love this dress – proof that navy and black can be worn together. And good job stealing that scarf from your mom! My mom doesn’t have anything cool from the 70s. I don’t think she had any style back then. Don’t tell her I said that.

  2. The wedding couple behind you is so cute!

I think most ladies have an item or two that they have thanks to their mothers. I have a pair of earrings and a necklace that I love from my mom. I borrowed them so often when I lived at home that she gave them to me!

    • A stylish and generous mom…what more could a girl ask for?! I’m currently ‘borrowing’ an awesome Dannijo necklace from my mum, I’m hoping she forgets I have it :)
