summer, stripes and sandals

sandals: KORS by Michael Kors; tee: J. Crew; skirt: Club Monaco; bag: J. Crew; necklace: Whistles; sunnies: SEE

The genesis of this outfit began with the thought ‘EGADS…only a few more days to wear my beloved KORS by Michael Kors sandals’. They have been my summer go-to when a dose of FABULOUS has been needed but given their bareness, I just don’t think they can go past Labor Day. As much as I am looking forward to Fall in all its sophistication, the thought of bidding adieu to such a stalwart staple is giving me pangs of panic.

Today I made the most of the time I have left with these darlings by playing up their horizontal straps with the horizontal stripes of the skirt, paired with a boatneck tee which also emphasizes the horizontal line. My little owl necklace provides a touch of vertical balance. The result is an ensemble that has hints of Autumn but is still grounded in Summer. To my beloved shoes I can only say au revoir until next year…so sad.

As summer winds to a close, are there items that you are loath to relinquish or am I alone in my neurotic attachment?!

  1. I love the owl necklace as well, it brought a playfulness to your outfit. You are not alone in your neurotic attachment; I have a dress or two that really only work for the summer.

    • Saying goodbye is always a little sad but then just this morning I started thinking about next week and all the garments that are back in play with the start of fall…so exciting, I just don’t know where to start!
