skirt: Madewell; shirt: Rugby by Ralph Lauren; bag: Rebecca Minkoff; shoes: Schuler & Sons (via anthropologie)
My love of dresses has been well documented on this site (so much so that it feels redundant to even point it out at this point- perhaps I should get ‘dress lover’ tattooed in Sanskrit somewhere on my body) but the fact remains that nothing, absolutely nothing, beats the versatility of separates- a few tops, a few bottoms, throw in some accessories and you have a nice little self-sustaining wardrobe.
To show just how flexible one garment can be, I decided to dedicate this week’s posts to one recently acquired skirt that has fast become completely indispensable in my closet. This first look is a casual weekend ensemble. I really liked the pop created by contrasting blue and orange (color opposites). The fact that the polo has a blue stripe that relates it back to the skirt also made me smile. This outfit is especially well suited for heading to the movies where those few extra inches of platform on the bottom of my legs help boost me up in the seat (to all tall people out there, why must you always sit in front of me?!).
Speaking of movies, I caught ‘Savages’ this weekend and I have to say, it’s the first movie I’ve seen in awhile that I would actually recommend. I went in concerned that Taylor Kitch’s bad movie mojo might still be in full swing but apparently third times a charm. It is a rare production that manages to be both grotesquely violent and charming at the same time. Has anyone seen the new Spiderman? As I have said here before, I am a big Emma Stone fan but the critics’ reviews were so harsh, I am hesitant to commit two hours of my life to see it (even if that time would be spent in the company of Junior Mints).
Next up for this skirt of stripey brilliance- workplace merriment…stay tuned!
Dig those heels!
Thank you kindly
Love Madewell! Cute look
I have only recently fallen in love with Madewell as initially I thought their stuff too long-waisted for me but I recently found several things there that I adore so now I cannot get enough!!
Thanks so much for commenting!
Wow, great outfit! I really love it! I can’t wait for your other combinations, let me make a guess: one will be business and the other feminine/romantic? Or something with neon maybe?
