It’s a red letter day here at Style Sprite. For the first time since I launched this little endeavor (slightly less than two months ago), I am wearing pants (trousers, to any Brits reading this). To date, I’ve featured a few skirts and a copious number of dresses (yes, I know, as some of you have pointed out, I have a little bit of a problem when it comes to dresses; I appreciate your concern and will let you know if an intervention is needed!) It may seem crazy that someone this interested in style should neglect such a standard piece of clothing but my proclivity towards skirted garments is driven by the fact that they typically fit my feminine and flirty aesthetic perfectly. That said, when I picked up this lace coat at Zara last week, I felt that the delicate detailing was calling out to be contrasted with the hard, clean lines of a pair of black jeans. It’s certainly a departure for me. What do you think? Do you want to see more masculine influences or is the sight of my legs separately encased completely unnerving?!
I have to say I was shocked- in a great way! You look great in pants and I love the lace jacket! I def prefer it worn open as it really pops that way. This look is very Chic! Well done!
Kia!
I think I prefer the jacket open too as it’s slightly more relaxed.
Thanks for commenting!

Its fine but I think u r r8… Floral, pink, more feminine dresses look better on u.
Have no fear, there is plenty more floral and feminine in the tank!
waiting…. muuuaaaahhhh….
Love the look. That jacket is amazing, too. The lace keeps the look very feminine.

Hi Rebecca,
Thanks so much! Glad you like the play of opposites.

That coat is fabulous…and I just love that you wore such a bold necklace with it.
Thanks so much! This is one of my newer DANNIJO additions and I just love it!

I’m with Kia, I like the jacket open. Yes, more pants please–but just a sprinkling. The dresses are fab!
It’s funny how such a small detail (jacket open or closed) can make such a big difference to a look.
Thanks for weighing in!!

This is what I wish I could do for myself! I love the coat, it is absolutely gorgeous! Read my post today and you will understand my current state of envy
I have been there and am struggling a bit as the weather is really weird in New York at the moment- too grey for summery things but darker items feel wrong. Kitschy cardigan/dress or skirt combos have kept me smiling as has playing around with makeup.

I think I’m bored with my makeup too. I used to be more creative. When I go out it’s easy, but for everyday at work I cover my spots, do a sheer gloss, mascara and my eyebrows… maybe I’ll try something fun for tomorrow… blog post idea? I think so!
I’ve been playing with cream eyeshadow. It’s so easy to apply but the finish is so rich. In a neutral/soft shade I think it’s work appropriate but still feels a little special which is what’s missing when in rut-ville.
Here’s to getting out of Rut-ville!
I love to see bloggers do something a bit outside of their “norm” once in awhile. I think you did so successfully!
This jacket makes my heart sing!!! And you are totally right…it’s perfect with the black pants. White lace with a dress might be too girly even for you. I would not be sad if you wore pants again (even though I like the dresses too).
sarahsreallife.wordpress.com <— If you ever forget what pants look like, I wear them often. Just a reminder.
Love your Loft printed jeans! Sometimes I do need reminding that pants exist. I went through a period a few years ago while I was a yoga teacher and immediately after when I didn’t own a single pair of pants save yoga pants (which I don’t count). I’m still slowly making my way back to trousers but with all this encouragement I think I will venture into this territory more frequently!

This jacket is just fabulous. It fits you very well and I think the pants looks also great on you. Black skinny pants is the way to go gor a classy look.

I couldn’t agree more- black skinny jeans with a bit of stretch are an absolute classic!
I love this outfit! I might be the lone vote for “jacket closed”
although both ways look great.
I only own one pair of jeans and one pair of trousers. I think I look better in dresses and skirts – but that might just be personal comfort zone. You look great both ways! Do what you like.
not bad at all !! You look beautiful in those pants too
I loved the jacket, especially in the first pic, open and flirty…….
That’s so funny! Last time I was in Zara I also had this coat in my hand and thought how beautiful it is! I ended up not buying it because i couldn’t decide what size to take…
I think the coat looks great with these black jeans, but it will also look lovely with a skirt or dress! I think it’s a very versatile piece!

Hi Anita,
My one moment of hesitation with this coat came when I considered how white and delicate it is versus how dirty and gross the subway is but I decided it was too lovely to pass up!
Chloe
Ooooo….I need that coat! Lol
