dress: TopShop; bag: Rebecca Minkoff flame satchel; shoes: Manolo Blahnik; watch: anthropologie; necklace: Whistles
Being a style blogger makes shopping that much more tempting and therefore treacherous. Pre-blog I would walk into a shop and find garments calling out to me ‘Pick Me! I’ll be perfect for Saturday night.’ or ‘Psst…You know I would coordinate perfectly with your office wardrobe.’ and occasionally, ‘Over here…I can cheer you up!’ Once the blog was established, however, shop wares knew they had a new Field of Dreams-type argument to win me over: ‘If you buy me, hits will come.’ Though not true, it’s a hard position to resist especially for someone with as little sartorial will-power as yours truly.
No dress clamored quite as loudly for its moment in cyberspace as this little number. It practically sent up flares across the lower level of TopShop Oxford Circus and dragged me back into the fitting rooms after I had only just come out moments before (this would have been less irritating if there wasn’t a 15-minute queue for space to change). The wait was worth it as the dress seemed to be MFSS (Made for Style Sprite) and was pocketbook friendly (phew!).
It wasn’t until it was time for its close-up that the trouble began. The dress didn’t appreciate the lighting in its first photo shoot (something about wrinkles showing?!). In the second attempt to shoot the dress, it neglected to notice the two air conditioning ducts that were behind me and appeared to be rising out of my head like Mickey Mouse ears- the dress decided this wouldn’t do. (This kind of persnickety high-maintenance behavior was a surprise as it happily lapped up the compliments on its outings to the office.) Finally, we have the shoot which is featured above during which we faced gale-force winds that had my hair plastered to the sides of my head. By this point my patience was wearing thin so I told the garment it had to stop being such a diva and it had better put up or shut up. So, what do you think, third time’s a charm?!
Hoping you all have an amazing weekend!!
Great dress! The details are amazing. I’m glad you got the dress to cooperate for you.
Rebecca (hearts)…
You’re telling me! I think if these photos hadn’t worked out, I would have assumed the dress was cursed which would have seriously damaged our relationship
That dress! Love it. Looks like very steardy fabric.
Actually, the fabric is quite silky which I think is a nice contrast to its structure.
Thank you for stopping by
You can definitely tell that the dress was worth it
very adorable.
Thanks L
Haha, anytime

the wind adds a dramatic flare.
The dress is cute but I bet it looks even better in person! Even though you’re dressing for your readers at least a little bit now, you should still dress mostly for yourself. So you if YOU love the dress and YOU know that it looks awesome, that’s what counts (and we believe you).
Hi Sarah,
I absolutely dress for myself- the blog just gives me an extra excuse to follow my bliss. Thanks so much or your comment!

I very much appreciate all the compliments but I fear they may go to my dress’s head. Next outing it’ll probably expect a round of applause
